Problems To Solve

High Installation Costs of
EV Chargers

The initial cost of installing EV chargers is often a significant barrier for businesses limiting the widespread adoption of electric vehicle infrastructure. These high installation costs discourage investment in EV charging stations, slowing down the expansion of EV networks. In 2024, Level 1 chargers’ cost between CAD 423.09 and CAD 1128, while Level 2 chargers range from CAD 1410 to CAD 10,577. Level 3 DC fast chargers, used at industrial sites and gas stations, are significantly more expensive, costing CAD 70,514 to CAD 2,82,057.

Complex and Inconvenient Charging Experience for End-Users

The EV charging process can be cumbersome, with issues like complicated payment systems, slow charging speeds, and difficult-to-navigate interfaces. This creates frustration for users, discouraging them from using charging stations. 27% of EV owners are dissatisfied with the wait times at charging stations and 31% are experienced difficulties charging due to the length, weight and position of charging cables.

Insufficient Number of EV Charging Stations

The limited availability of EV charging stations creates challenges, such as range anxiety and inconvenience during long trips. This shortage hampers the broader adoption of electric vehicles, as potential users worry about the accessibility and reliability of charging infrastructure. As of June 2024, there were only 27,181 charging stations across Canada.
